Let's steal from the rich to give to the poor...
So that the poor hired from the rich can lose their job--because now the rich are poor!
It's been a while since I have been able to blog--I work part-time (outside of all this), I am a college student, and am still an activist at large. If you're on facebook, join the Matter Now group, because that's where most of the action is.
I'm becoming uplifted and discouraged, all in the same moment. For the good, I have many young people in my community saying "let's rock and roll." Just a handful are active and ready to move. However, what concerns me are those who just do not care. I admit, I was one of them, so I cannot really come down hard on them, but I believe now the time to care has never been more important. t
We are the generation who will pay for this debt. While the government continues to print more money, it does not just go on some invisible tab. It's our tab. We pay for every decision that is made. Every pay check that I recieve, I notice that little thing called social security/med hold. I'll never see a dime of it. At the very least, I would think that in itself would be enough to wake some people up. You wouldn't walk through Wal-Mart, hand them the money, and then walk out with no product would you? No, I don't know of a single person that would.
I also notice those who are my age, that highly oppose me, want to pull the "share the wealth" card and help the poor. Now trust me, my heart is with charity. I believe in it, encourage it, and participate in it. Some of the wealthiest people I know donate to charity on a regular basis. My problem is with the people who want to "share the wealth" as long as it's not theirs. If you want to pull that one, you can share your own wealth as well.
Also, my skin really crawls when I hear the "let's raise the taxes on the rich." I guarantee you if those people who call for that were the rich, they'd have a different a opinion. What don't people get? The "rich" are those that run the businesses (and most of the time they are rich on paper and not in reality). When taxes are raised on "the rich", they will hire less people, because they can't afford to pay them. Unemployment rises and suddenly "the rich" are not the only ones affected--we all suffer. So the argument about health care will only raise taxes on "the rich" doesn't mean all of America will not feell the heat. And why don't people grasp the concept that taxes will raise across the board...the rich of America can't afford to pay for this plan. It will trickle down. Also note that medical devices will be taxed, if things go as planned. So you need a pacemaker? Well the price of the pacemaker will not go up, but there will be a tax on it. Do you think they will suck that price in for you? No. The prices of medical devices will go up, causing healthcare to go up, causing taxes to go up...etc. Is that how you "control" the cost of healthcare?
People like to take the idea of having health care for all of America (which that is still not going to happen in this bill) and not consider any other concept. I find that many think the CEO's of America will cover it, and the middle and lower classes won't change a thing. To pay for a government option, all taxes will rise. And then if you'll also be forced to have health care, along with a tax increase, or you'll pay the fine.
I think some people need to understand how small businesses work, so that we can expose who these "rich people" really are. Most of them are classified as "S" corporations, which means that any income from the business is seen as personal income (not corporate income) as far as taxes go. I had a close friend break down his business with me (and yes, I'll keep him anonymous), but this is something we all need to see:
Company has a NET profit 1,000,000 which means that my friend gets taxed personally on the 1,000,000. Unless he can find a way to write off the net profit (as in buying something, for the business, this is his personal income tax rate)… This is how it is perverted.
1,000,000 net profit (after expenses)
500,000 is spent on the company, which cannot be written off that year (or depreciation is drawn out over years and years)
500,000 is spent on bonuses for employees, because good employees are hard to find.
What is his taxable income?
Answer 500,000 + and this is how…
1,000,000 to start
500,000 that was put back into the company, but cannot be depreciated is STILL taxable
The 500,000 that he gave out in bonuses, he has to pay payroll tax (employer) and the employee has to pay their payroll tax
But he didn’t take any money home, and it isn’t in his bank account, but yet he is still taxed on it, as if he did.
So, Americans...just because the paper says you're a millionaire, doesn't mean you are. And, if you raises taxes on the wealthy, you may not have a tax increase, but you're job may be at risk...so please analyze things all the way through before you bash the rich who hire you. (and probably are not really rich when all is said and done).

|2009-10-28 23:00:56 AshleighI know...I hate this filter. In no way am I throwing out the poor. I feel like people are reading me wrong here. I'm saying is a whacked up world. I'm talking about the small business owners and such who appear wealthy on paper, to the government, but are not in reality. It just seems that when you jack up their taxes (again, your small business owners are who I'm calling "rich" with a tongue in cheek) they cannot afford to hire as many as they would before. And if they cannot hire, who does that effect? The lower cl*****.

Make a House Call on Congress on November 5th and Stop the Government Take Over of Health Care!
November 5th, 2009
Democrat leadership in the House wants to pass a government run health care bill before Veteran's Day, and it's up to us to make sure this prescription for socialized medicine doesn't pass.
If you can come to Washington to look your Member straight in the eye and tell them to keep their hands off your heatlh care, do it. If you can't make it to Washington, go to your Member's district office. And, if you can't do that at least call and email.
Also, Americans for Prosperity is organizing a House Call to legislators district offices on Thursday at noon, and I encourage you...

At what point do we say enough is enough? We have bankruptcy courts for a reason. If a company is "too big to fail" we also have laws against monopolies.
The old saying "you can't get blood from a turnip"isn't necessarily true.I'm tired as Hel l of getting squeezed!

Buffet isn't in favor of a flat tax but he sure as **** thinks our tax code is written so that the less fortunate pay nearly double what the wealthier people pay.
